Wild Flowers Animal Gods

This is the story of three slaves of a wicked high priest in ancient Egypt who are entombed along with their dead master, and are thereafter witness to the judgement of his soul, and, eventually, become inadvertent participants in his prosecution.

Our protagonists had, by the time of Wild Flowers Animal Gods, been appearing in the author's stories for nearly a decade. Justine and Blanche were originally created for Prince of the Earthbound Angels, a planned animated series about a self-proclaimed libertine who is, in reality, only an object of ridicule. The series never expanded beyond its first episode, but the characters of his daughters, Justine and Juliette, would return in the author's next project, a graphic novel called The Last of the Twentieth Century. Their father was thoroughly reimagined as tragically mild mannered. Juliette would be renamed Blanche, but the characters of the sisters would otherwise remain roughly the same. All three characters would return in another animated series, The Devil's Crawlspace, first hand-drawn, and then digitally animated. Satisfaction with that project encouraged the artist to attempt a feature-length animated movie, the one before you now. For this story, the sisters would be given a younger sister, Lily.

Wild Flowers Animal Gods has taken many forms over the years. Bits were added, bits were removed, its speed was increased, decreased, and sequences remade, or shuffled around. Its current form is its shortest (41 mins.) and therefore its most watchable! The title cards that once filled it are now gone but for those essential to make sense of the story. While the animation is a bit rough, the story is not very bad at all! If this movie is ever again made available for viewing, it will most likely appear here.
